Chiara Fehr is a PhD candidate in Gender and Sexuality Studies at UCL’s Center of Multidisciplinary and Intercultural Inquiry. 

Chiara Fehr is a PhD candidate in Gender and Sexuality Studies at UCL’s Center of Multidisciplinary and Intercultural Inquiry. Her research focuses on the influence algorithmically driven social media feeds have on young women and girls’ sexual self perception. Grounded in feminist, new materialist approaches, her research aims to generate necessary understanding of young people’s use of rapidly evolving technology and seeks to inform educational interventions. Her research interests include feminine identity formation, popular/ post-feminist notions of sexuality and consumption, post digital youth cultures, and algorithmic social media platform affordances. She holds and BSc in Sociology from the University of Bath, an MA in Gender, Society and Representation from UCL and a MSc in Social Research from the University of Edinburgh.
